User Account

My default position is SF but that´s not my position. How do I change it?

As soon as your coach uploads the first statistics he can change your position. Before that the default setting is SF.

How can I upload my profil picture?

First, click on the "personal info" textlink in the upper right corner of your home section. Next, click on the "edit info" button. Now you are able to change all your personal information. To upload your profile picture, simply click on the "explore" button below the photo. Choose a photo from your computer and click "done editing". Please note that it will take a few seconds for your profil picture to show up. !!! Note: Our system just works with photos up to 512kb. You will find some programs at google, if you search for “minimize photos freeware”, wich reducec the filesize of your photo!!!

How can I change my email address or my username?

Your email address and your username are unique to your user account. If you wish to change either, you are required to send us an email at support@ballside.com.

Editing the Roster

My photo cannot be uploaded. What to do?

The pictures should be in jpg, jpeg or gif format. Maximum size for upload: 0,5 MBytes. You will find some programs at google, if you search for “minimize photos freeware”, wich reducec the filesize of your photos.

Can I have different roles on one team?

Yes, you can have diffenrent roles (e.g. coach and player, staff member and player) on one team at the same time. Simply tell the coach of your team to invite you twice in different capacities.

How can I change my role in the team I´m active on?

Only the coach can change a user´s role on a specific team by first removing the user from the team roster and then reinviting the same person in his/her new capacity.

As a coach, I experience difficulties inviting my players?

In case some of your players do not show up on the team´s roster, try the following steps: 1. Make sure you have your player´s correct email address and he/she knows that you are using BallSide. 2. Manually send the invitation link to the respective player by copy & pasting it into a regular email with some individual instructions. In order to get the invitation link, simply click on the "Invited yyyy-mm-dd" textlink. 3. In case you have used an incorrect email address, you can change the address and reinvite a player by clicking on the "Invite again" textlink.

I have a gmail or googlemail email adress and can´t join my team?

Please note that BallSide makes a distinction between a gmail and googlemail address. This is the main reason why problems might occur when inviting players to join a team. As a coach, please ask your player, which specific Google address he or she used for registering on BallSide.

Buying Credits

As an underaged player, can my coach subscribe to the Analyzer for me?

If you're an underaged player, the easiest way to subscribe to the team’s or player’s Analyzer is to simply ask your parents to fund your credits account. Alternatively, your coach can sponsor your and the team’s Analyzer for a period of one month. All he/she has to do is to register a new account on BallSide and use this new profile to sponsor the team.

I want to buy Credits. Do I have to be registered at PayPal?

PayPal offers you the option to purchase Credits through a guest account. Simply follow the instructions on BallSide until you are redirected to PayPal's website. Look for the link to continue without being registered at PayPal.

Do I have to pay for my own statistics?

No, viewing stats is completely free for all registered users.

What do I get when I buy credits on BallSide?

If you buy credits on BallSide, you will be able to subscribe to any team’s and player’s Analyzer, a smart tool to analyze and compare stats (see a video tour of the Analyzer section). The Analyzer will appears in the top navigation bar of a team’s or player’s site.

Entering and Editing Statistics

What do I do, if a game doesn´t take place because the opponet doesn´t show up?

Click on the "Enter Stats" textlink next to the respective game. Look for the headline “Committee Decision“ and click on “Enter Decision“. A pop-up window will show up. Here you can select between “We won“ or “We loose“. Note!!! Once recorded a game like this your are not able to change it afterwards. Missing stats can only be edited by deleting and reentering the respective game in the PROganizer!

A player is a member of my team, but he doesn´t show up on my team in a specific game. Therefore I can't enter or edit stats for him.

Right now you can only edit a few statistical details, after you have entered and uploaded your game stats. The Running Score and all entries from the scoring sheet can not be changed by the edit function after completing the stats-upload. So please double check everything before uploading your game data. We are working on this topic and hope to solve this by next season. In case you still uploaded wrong game data, you should delete the specific game from your PROganizer, recreate this game event and please enter the stats once again.

Do all of my players have to be registered on BallSide in order to enter statistics?

No. As a coach or staff member, you can start entering your game statistics as soon as you have invited all your players and have entered the game dates in the team´s PROganizer. This allows you to use all stat-related functionalities on BallSide.com from the very start. If a player accepts the invitation later on, the stats will be automatically attributed to him/her.

I made a mistake entering the game stats. How can I change it?

As long as you haven't confirmed that all entered data is correct, you can still make changes within the running score. Once confirmed, the only way to make corrections is to enter the complete game statistics anew. To enable this, delete the game event in the team's PROganizer calendar and create a new one right away.

I am the coach of a team as well as a player on that same team. How can I enter my own statistics?

The easiest way is to create a second account for yourself as a player. When inviting the other players, simply invite yourself as well. You can send the invite to the same email address you are already registered with on BallSide. You will receive an activation mail with two links. Click the activation link for creating a NEW ACCOUNT and go through the registration process on the right hand side of the landing page. You are now on the team roster. Remember that you have to be logged in with your coach's account to enter the stats.

I cannot upload statistics. Why?

In order to upload game statistics, you have to enter an event for that game in your team's PROganizer calendar first. Once the event lies in the past, you are able to enter statistics. Please note that only a team's coach and staff members who are authorized by the coach can enter statistics.

Viewing Statistics

My best freethrow shooter doesn´t show up among the team leaders?

To be listed, at least 10 freethrows have to be shot during the season.

I'm a player and my scoring average is not correct. Why?

Your coach probably forgot to specify that you did not play in one or more games. If that's the case, your season average will appear to be lower than it actually is.

I became a player on a team, but can't find my PlayerStats.

If the PlayerStats don't appear in your personal tab bar at the top of the page and if the PlayerStats link in your MySide navigation menu on the left is inactive, your coach probably hasn't entered any game statistics yet or you did not play in any of the previous games. Just ask your coach about it.

Changes for the new season

What do I do with players who don't play for my team any more (e.g. because of their age)? What happens to their stats? Are they gone?

The stats aren´t gone. They will be saved for the player and for the team.

Can I compare my stats of two seasons?

No. We will present this feature as soon as BallSide.com turns two.

As a player - do I keep my stats from the old season?

Yes. As long a your coach enters stats, you can retrace your statistical development without a problem.

When does the new season start?

The new season starts, when you enter new events in the team's calender (PROganizer). You will be asked which season these events belong to. Just select the new season (2010/2011).

General Questions

How do I upload files?

You can find a short clip on how to upload files in our Tour section.

Is it possible to import scouting data files (such as .csv) which already exist?

Unfortunately this isn´t possible yet. We´re already working on a solution for next season.

I can`t upload my profil picture?

The pictures should be in jpg, jpeg or gif format. The maximum size for upload is 0,5 MBytes. By using search engines such as google or bing you can find several programs to reduce the filesize of your photo. Just search for “minimize photos freeware”.

I'm a player and want to sign off from a game or practice. How does it work?

Go to your personal calendar or to your team's calendar in the PROganizer section. Click on the event you want to sign off from. An information layer will open. At the bottom of the layer, you will find a text link to sign off and tell your coach why you can't be there.
